5/7/13

Today has already been a nice day. It was warm and sunny on my way to class this morning. Temperatures were rising close to 60F.
Currently we are around 66F. Our high today is 75F. It is going to be partly cloudy today and into tonight. There is a 10-20% chance of precipitation.

Tomorrow is looking like another day that we reach over 70 degrees. There will be partly cloudy skies and our chance of precipitation will increase as the day goes on. Possible chance of thunderstorms? I hope so!

5/2/13

Just from looking outside it is hard to tell what month of the year it is. May? Really? Looks more like January to me. Last Friday through Tuesday we had the weather many of us have been waiting for only to have it revert back to the winter rut we have been stuck in. Thanks Mother Nature! Or really thanks shift in the jet stream!

Since early this morning it has been snowing and seems to have picked up quite a bit since I got up around 6:00. It is going to keep on snowing for the remainder of the day and into the night.
Temperatures are currently around 32F. In just a short drive south east and you'll be in 60-70 degree weather!
Winds are coming from the North around 11 mph.
Tomorrow is looking to start out similar to today with temperatures in the 30s and a snowy mix precipitation. As the day goes on possibly a shift to rain.

4/25/13

Yesterdays sun and clear(er) skies had it finally feeling like spring!

Today will be mostly cloudy. High temperatures reaching in the upper 40s! Winds are coming from the west at 10mph. There is a 10-20% chance of precipitation later in the day/night. The system of high pressure is bringing warmer air from the south. This pattern is going to continue into early next week as we are likely to see clear skies and warming temperatures (70s anyone?).

4/22/13

This past weekend brought us a mix of weather conditions. Various forms of precipitation (snow, rain..) and also a lot of breaks with clearer skies and sunshine.
Today is looking like a continuation of the weekend. Temperatures reaching a high of 45F. There's an 80% chance of precipitation (rain and snow) later today. Currently temperatures are around 38F with cloudy skies and winds coming from the north at 7mph.
There is a system of low pressure over Colorado which could bring us some more precipitation in the next few days.Temperatures are expected to rise as the week goes on. 60s possible on Friday!

4/14/13

The past few days have brought some light wintry precipitation. Currently it is snowing quite a bit but most likely the precipitation will transition into sleet then rain later in the day. It is 39F with winds coming from the ESE at 14 mph.
Surface map from Unisys. The low of the system is currently situated over Nebraska. This is also shown in the current surface map below.

Tomorrow there will be overcast skies, but not a high chance of precipitation. Temperatures will probably reach the low 40s.

4/11/13

Today was another day of wintry precipitation. There was rain, snow, and the roads were covered with a heavy slush. It's currently 30F, but feels more like 20F. Winds are coming from the east at 13mph. There has  been 100% cloud cover all day.

Tomorrow is looking like more precipitation throughout the day. Temperatures will be similar to today with high around 38F. Winds are expected to change from the east to the north.

One thing I found really cool was this lightning strikes map. It goes right along with the severe weather happening in the south.

4/10/13

As predicted, there was snow early this morning. Currently we have a 100% chance of precipitation and rain is being reported in the Eau Claire area. The temperature is 38F.
It's looking like more snow could be coming our way later tonight. Wind speed is going to increase into the night. All day tomorrow a wintry mix should be expected.
